Easton goes to Pre-K

My October birthday missed Kindergarten by a few months (phew!) so this August Easton started pre-k instead! He picked out some new shoes and a new backpack. He was a  little hesitant the first day, but hasn't look back since! I sure do miss having my baby with me, but seeing him flourish in pre-k warms my hearts and tells me I made the right choice to let him go.

I've always had a hard time doing at home preschooling with my boys (I'm not one of those patient, creative learning mommy types who can make the learning seem more like fun than learning), but even when I did try my boys seemed less than interested.

But since Easton started pre-k I have seen major improvements in his drawing, coloring, speech, writing, and other skills. He points out letters he knows in places we go, writes his name without any help now, copies words, counts without messing up, and has also made some pretty great friends. He likes the playground time best, show and tell, tries hard to earn pennies for good behavior, and his teachers say he actually naps during "rest time." I started going in to volunteer on Wednesday mornings and I've enjoyed getting to know his teachers more and learn more about all his friends.

He had his first field trip to the fair grounds where they learned all about some cute and furry little baby animals.

Gavin even got to tag along on this one...

I also love Fridays when they send home a backpack full of things they've done throughout the week. These are some of my favorites...

(Might be hard to see the dates, but I love seeing how writing his name has improved since school started)
