18 months

So this post is a week late, but better late than never!

Our sweet little Gavin is officially 18 months old! I can hardly believe that once wrinkly newborn, so quiet and content, has grown into a full fledged toddler- who is experiencing a bit of the terrible two's early might I add. Teething has ruined my happy boy. He does not take no for an answer, he screams about everything, he started hitting (anything within reach whenever he gets mad, which you can guess where he got that from), and he does not tolerate big brother's bullying anymore. I wish I could say that my boys are best friends and that they got along, but that is just not the case! In all honesty, it has only gotten worse as Gavin has gotten older and I wonder if it will ever get better. I believe Gavin is making a very good case to be the youngest child in our family, and for now he is winning!

Then every once in a while there are those sweet moments, those moments when everyone is happy and in a good mood. These moments are my favorite. They are full of unexpected kissed, sharing of toys, and playing nicely with one another. These are the moments I love to see and the ones that make my heart melt. Oddly enough, despite the cranky-ness, whining, and hard days, I wouldn't have it any different because I know that there is always something to be grateful for and I love my boys to the moon and back! I'll just have to keep reminding them each day that they are best friends and need to learn to love each other.

Getting back to our little Gavin- here are some other things about him at 18 months...

He loves dogs. Every time he sees one he gets super excited. He calls all animals dogs ("dog-ga") but when he sees the real thing he's even more excited. He especially loves our dog Lucy. He gives her kisses and hugs on her all the time.

**He came along with me to Hobby Lobby one night and saw a shelf full of stuffed dogs. I gave him one to take home and he kept reaching for more. I let him hold them all until check out, he was so happy!

He knows what he wants and will pull on your leg to follow him until he takes you to it.

He folds him arms for prayers and it is absolutely the cutest.

He will even say his own prayer in his own mumbling baby language and claps when you say "Amen!"

We started putting him in time-out this last week for the hitting and so far it is working. I put him in a chair that is too tall for him to climb down from on his own and for now he just sits there for his 1 minute until I come get him. I tell him to say sorry, which is usually a kiss and then he goes on his merry little way.

He is a VERY picky eater. I didn't think kids could be pickier at eating than Easton was, but they can. He will even reject some of his most favorite foods if he's not in the mood for it. I never know how his meals will go, I just cross my fingers and hopes he likes what I give him for the day.

His favorite foods are hot dogs, chicken nuggets, bananas, yogurt, waffles, gold fish and fruit snacks.

He loves playing with cars and rolling them down his ramp toy. He also loves playing outside, sliding, playing with the vacuum, coloring, and bouncy balls.

He is very observant and always points to things around him. He says "uh-oh" when he hears a really loud noise or something unusual.

Words he says are "dog-ga" (Doggie), Mama, Dada, Uh-Oh, "wa-wa" (Water), "ba-ba" (milk or food), book, Vroom, ball, baseball, and "bu-bu" (Bubba for Easton). He also loves to blow kisses, wave bye, and make animals noises like an elephant, monkey, and dog.

We love our little Gavin!
