Hey guys. So its been awhile since something exciting happened. But this weekend we went to Utah to see our newest member of the family be blessed. Brexton Glen Hunter. Here he is in his blessing outfit and also some of the family.

While we were there we had quite an adventure and interesting time. Saturday morning was probably the most interesting story of the whole vacation. We went to see my sister and we decided to drive up Y mountain. At first everything was great. As we were about 2/3 of the way done we hit an ice patch where an avalanche covered the entire road. We got over easily thinking we wouldn't have to go back over. Well a little ways farther down the road we hit another spot where the snow covered the road. This time though it was covering it almost completely and was also near the edge of the cliff. After a possible attempt and everyone scared to death something told us all that it probably wasn't a very smart idea too keep going. So we backed out and headed back the way we came. Then as we approached the first ice/snow patch again we thought it would be just as easy to get over it again. Boy were we WRONG!! The other side was much more difficult. Blake tried once and failed. Tried twice and failed. We were all getting depressed and Jameson's family was calling us trying to find out where we were (we weren't planning on being stuck on the mountain that long). Then a couple of four wheelers had stopped to help us. They started digging away at the snow to makes grooves for the car so it would stop sliding as we tried to get over. After a little prayer Blake made his third attempt and we finally made it over. We were so grateful everyone was safe and the vehicle was still in one piece. So our little drive up Y mountain turned into a 4 hour encounter with snow that we weren't expecting. Here are the pictures I took to document our dilemma.

The easy side up
The view from standing on the avalanche
Four wheelers making it look easy
Our first attempt over. I thought they were going to roll!!

And this was the NOT so easy side over. But eventually we made it!!
As for the rest of the weekend, we spent time with Jameson's family and witnessed a beautiful baby blessing. Only in Utah do you have 5 BABY BLESSINGS on one Sunday, the entire chapel packed with people, and only 8 minutes left at the end after the sacrament for bearing of testimonies. That was a first...

  1. The ride was behind Y mountain to be exact. It was on Squaw Peak Road that starts in Provo Canyon and ends in Springville Canyon. That will be an adventure I will never forget. I want to take the drive now that it's warmer and see if we can make it.
