Potty Adventures!

I think its safe to say we have a potty trained little boy in our house! Hooray! (Through the day only that is)

He still has an accident every now and then, but considering how busy we've been with family visiting I say he's actually done better than I thought. 

Of course after only a few days into it he ditched his "special" potty seat and wanted to sit on the big potty  like mommy and daddy. This turned into the best thing ever because getting him to go in public was probably the easiest thing out of the whole process. 

I pulled out all the stops with this kid... sticker chart, treat jars, dollar bin toys. I basically did all the methods til I found the one that worked best!

And I'm happy that we have one less set of diapers we have to buy! 

Weekend with the Ashby's

My sister came to visit this last weekend and it was so good to see some family! Her daughter Kaiya is 9 months old and this was my first time meeting her, so a well overdue visit for sure. It was a fun filled weekend and Easton could not get enough of his cousins!

Friday we took some pictures in the morning of the girls for my sister and then spent the afternoon at the pool. 

For dinner we visited one of my brother in laws friends who lives here in Dunwoody, GA. They cooked us all dinner, which was Ah-mazing might I add. Don't know if it's what you'd call an authentic southern bbq that everyone talks about here, but it was the BEST cook-out I've ever had.

Then Saturday we went to a place called INK (interactive neighborhood for kids). Its basically a town for little people. It had a Dr's office, grocery store, court house, farm, diner, and lots more. Tiffany wasn't feeling good that morning so we just took Easton & Addie and the babies. They both could have just stayed and played with the trains the whole time. Which is weird because I thought Easton would be all over the life sized fire truck and police car... but either way he had fun.

The train table... I've been looking around now for one that's on sale or at a second hand place because Easton loved it so much.

Then Saturday night we got babysitters and did a much needed double date night out without the kids. We went to dinner and then to the Stone Mountain laser light show. Made me feel very American. 

Then on Monday we went to the Georgia Aquarium... people weren't kidding when they said it was big. It was by far the coolest aquarium I've ever been too though. 

They had almost everything you could imagine. Including a dolphin show (which was cheesy, but very fit for the kids) 

The penguins were really cool. They had this little tunnel you walk through (well crawl through) and then you can stick your head up right in the center of the penguin's exhibit. By far this was Easton's favorite part

Easton had so much fun. We'll have to go back when it's not so busy and we can see everything we didn't get to or the stuff we had to rush through

Bye Bye "Di-Di"

Hallelujah the binky is finally gone!! Last Monday I decided on a whim that I was going to take Easton to the store to trade in his "Di-Di" to the "binky fairy" for a new toy. The idea of this excited him very much! I was a little reluctant to see if it would really work, but it did! 

When we walked into Toy's R Us I informed the lady at the check out counter what was going on and then we browsed the toy isles. Usually when Easton is in the store with me and he spots a toy he says mommy "dis dis" (this) as in I want this, and sometimes even throws a fit when I tell him no. But this trip to the toy store was very different. He browsed the toy isles very carefully as if to search for the one perfect toy "worthy" enough to trade in his binky for. It was then that he spotted an airplane set from the new Disney movie "Planes"

Then we proceeded to check-out where he very willingly handed the precious, beloved binky to the "binky fairy" for a brand new toy! The "binky fairy" and her fellow fairy friend clapped and cheered for him and hi-fived him. Easton was so excited, it was so cute! I'm so glad they were willing to play along and played the role of "binky fairy" perfectly! 

The rest of the night he did not even mention his "di-di" til I was tucking him into bed. I had to remind him he traded it in and it was gone. He did cry off and on a little for the first night trying to fall asleep without it, but eventually fell asleep. The next couple of days following he did ask for it a few times, but we just had to remind him again that it was gone. So happy we don't have to worry about that binky anymore and my little baby is turning into a big boy! Next stop... potty training! 

4 months old

Gavin is 4 months old now. He's developing quite the personality and we all love it. Jameson says he's officially fun now and out of the 0-2 month, too fragile, baby phase that he hates.

We took him to the Dr yesterday. He came in at a whopping 14lbs and 9 oz, which is the 50th percentile. He's also 26 inches, which is the 90th percentile (This seems big to me because Easton was always so little at this age and sometimes his weight was in like the negative percentiles)

He sleeps 10-11 hours at night and takes 3 1/2 naps

He loves watching Easton

Dr said he has good head control and we can start rice cereal soon!

Easton Quotes

These are some of Easton's new favorite things to say...

"Ut Ooo Doing" = What are you doing?

"Er it doe" = Where did it go?

"Avin top kying" = Gavin stop crying

When someone talks to him and asks him how old he is his response is always "I'm E-hon" (which is I'm Easton). Guess we'll have to work on that.

Easton likes to add the word too onto everything. "I see too" or "I doe too"

"Ut Happen" = What happened?

"Yet Doe me" = Let go of me (Which he says when I tickle him or when he's in trouble)

Easton decided he wanted to start saying his prayers by himself (He use to copy word for word whatever I said). This is what his prayer sounds like "Dear Hedy Fada... mummble mummble.. Christ. Amen" It is seriously so cute!

Everyday when Easton wakes up he asks "Er Daddy doe, I see Daddy" before I can even answer he says "Daddy Work?"

Everytime Easton sees a bug or I change his diaper he always has to say "Ucky gross"

Whenever Easton sees a Mcdonalds he always says "French Fries, Apples, Goose" all at once.

When I tell Easton thank you he says you're welcome Mommy, except it sounds like "Your bum-bum Mommy"

Whenever we are having conversations with people Easton always interrupts "I talk too" and insists he be the only one allowed to talk to our guests. This also includes on the phone or on Skype.

The other day at church I had to give a talk (guess it was about time, I avoided it completely in our old ward) and a couple we recently met agreed to sit next to Jameson and help him out with both of the boys. They have a little boy Easton's age named Kenny. As we were driving to church Jameson said "Easton, we're going to sit next to Kenny at church today" Easton got really excited and said "Ennedy! See Ennedy?" Then when we got to church Easton started to look around and kept saying "Daddy, er Ennedy doe?" He thought Jameson said Kennedy, not Kenny and was really sad that Kennedy was not at church that day :(

Chattanooga

So we went to Chattanooga, Tennessee for 4th of July weekend. We planned this trip a little over a month ago and were really excited about some of the things we were going to do there. We planned on seeing fireworks, the Tennessee Aquarium and Zoo, Ruby Falls (which is a 22 story waterfall inside of a cave), and Lookout Mountain (where you can see 7 different states from the top of). All things which would have been nice had it not been raining... The Whole Time! It rained all day and everyday we were there, so it was a big bummer. I was mostly bummed about having no fireworks. When there is a chance of rain in the Southeast, even with 10% chance, it means it will most likely rain. So we spent a lot of time at our hotel and doing as many indoor things as we could find.

It was really nice that our hotel had an indoor pool so thank goodness we brought our swimsuits! Regardless of the rain, we still enjoyed getting away and Jameson having the time off from work. So what is there do to indoors in Chattanooga you ask? Well Friday we went to the Children's museum. They have the best Children's Museum I have ever been to. You'll notice Easton has his binky in lots of pictures... I swear we are getting rid of that thing soon, but thank goodness we had it here. No naps makes for a very cranky two year old, but Easton still had a blast!

Then after the museum we did end up getting to do the Aquarium. It is rated the best one of the best aquariums in the country. I would have to agree, it was pretty cool. "Nemo" was Easton's favorite.

One of the places we ate at was called Cheeburger Cheeburger (Recommended to us by one of Jameson's co-workers and someone from the ward). We both thought it was ok. We also ate at Buffalo Wild Wings for the first time ever! There use to be one in AZ (we had never been) and it closed. Jameson said it is now his favorite place to eat at. Saturday we planned on doing all of those other things I mentioned earlier but the rain was just too much. We even drove by to check to zoo out (only 8 bucks we figured we could do that for at least an hour). But the parking lot was completely deserted. So we ended up going to see Despicable Me 2! Very cute movie!

And we finished of our trip off Saturday night with nothing else but some Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Easton is weird and said he wanted one, but it ended up just sitting there and melting mostly.

Since its only two hours away we will definitely have to go back and do all those things we planned on doing, but didn't get to do. Darn rain!
