The Utah trip that turned into Disneyland awesomeness!

So once upon a time we had a trip planned to Utah. Then somehow that trip turned into something magical!(as Katie would say) We just spontaneously decided to go a whole different direction and go to Disneyland! I don't know if Easton will ever remember this trip to Disneyland, but at least when he's older he can't say "my parents never took me to Disneyland" which is something Jameson and I both could say. 

The first day was spent at Disneyland. We started off with some of the small Storybook rides and eased Easton into the whole experience. I think he did really well  considering he only got 5 hours of sleep the night before! Jameson may not agree with me that he did well, but he could have been so much worse.

Some of Easton's favorite parts of Disneyland were the train, the fake cars in ToonTown, It's a Small World ride, the merry-go-round, and the Jungle Cruise ride.
My favorite part was seeing him get all happy and clap his hands and get excited! I loved that!

Easton's least favorite part were the characters. He liked them at first from a distance, but then not so much when we got close to take pictures. This picture cracks me up because he is giving Goofy the stare down.

The second day was spent at Disney's California Adventures. Of course we headed straight to Cars Land when we got there. Easton rode the new Tow Mater ride and loved it! The other kid friendly cars land ride looked dumb, and the other non kid friendly one had a two hour wait... Yeah right. His other favorite rides at California Adventures was Toy Story and the Zephyr (which is the rocket that goes in circles). 

I was surprised though when Easton did not like the character Mater. He loves real life trucks and cars, but I guess he wasn't so fond of Mater. I think it was because he talked and has a face. I don't get it?!

Anyway, thank you Workman's for the spontaneous trip to Disneyland. I don't know how we convinced Jameson to be spontaneous ;) We had so much fun and I wish we could have seen you longer.  We miss you guys already!!

Its a...

BOY! 

We've got another little boy coming our way! We are super excited to see what he looks like and what similarities he will have to Easton. Having another boy also makes things easy with already having everything we need. Granted, we thought a girl would be nice, but I think Heavenly Father knows best and knows this will relieve a lot of stress from me since I am going to be super busy in the next few months I felt like I wasn't even going to have time to get ready for another baby. We have Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easton's birthday, Halloween, the Holiday House, LOTS of sessions ( I think I might be crazy), weddings, baby showers, etc. I don't have an open Saturday with nothing going on until December which is nuts! So thank goodness because this baby being a boy does take away some of my worries. We are having a hard time coming up with any names though that we both like for boys. We will just call him little brother for now :)

random happenings of our life...

I was thinking there hasn't been much to blog about lately til October when we find out the sex of the baby, Easton turns two, and we go to Utah. But then I was looking through my phone and found all these cute pictures and realized there were lots of little things that we do throughout our day.

Easton watched The Sandlot for the first time. It was only fitting he be wearing his baseball clothes. I was surprised how long he lasted watching it considering its not animated, but he was happy sitting in that chair for a while holding his baseball. 

Softball season started up again and Easton loves going more than ever. He loves watching them play and throwing his own baseball around. He almost gave himself a black eye last week when he threw the not so soft softball up in the air and it hit himself in the face. Luckily, it wasn't hard enough to bruise.

Football season has also started and that means it's Cowboy time! Football has not always been my favorite sport to watch (its actually my least favorite), but thank goodness for DVR and being able to fast forward through the game. And because of my lack of enthusiasm Jameson decided he was going to get Easton excited about it this year instead. I happily agreed and even found this cute little Cowboy outfit for Easton to wear when they watch the games together. 

I went to my first official concert a few weeks ago. Brooke and Keith bought passes that included four different Country concerts. Keith decided out of the four artists, he wasn't excited for Rascal Flatts and I was called in for Brooke's replacement date :) I was pretty happy since it was my first concert and because I really like the band. Rascal Flatts was the reason I started listening to Country music in the first place so I guess it was fitting as my first ever real concert. Thanks for the fun night Brooke!

Easton has turned into such a big copycat! He loves doing things he sees other people do, especially if its with kids his age. But he did find daddy's socks the other day and just HAD to wear them. 

I've got myself quite the snuggle bug lately. He can be calm now when he wants to. I discovered though that he really loves the cartoon Little Einsteins and he will sit and watch the whole thing no matter what time of day it is. I think that is how I got snuggles this day...

Easton has made a new friend. They've been friends for a while, but they really never started interacting with each other like they do now. They chase each other around and love to play side by side (again with the  whole copycat thing). Easton isn't much of a color-er, but wanted to just because Kennedy was. 

Last, but not least, my best friend Darryn is getting married!! I am super excited for her. I've met the future husband and highly approve. Her daughter Tallyn adores him, which I think is the sweetest thing ever. I think the two of them together are pretty much a match made in heaven! We met up for lunch the other day to catch up and talk about all the wedding plans. I was a little nervous when she called to tell me she got engaged because I knew they wanted a spring wedding, but I told her I will be there no matter what, 9 months pregnant and all! (Fingers crossed) And seriously when did we grow up? I can't believe her daughter just turned one and Easton is about to turn two. So crazy! I love their cute faces in this picture!

Aquarium

Better late than never... A while back when Jameson was out of town my friend Natalie told me she wanted to go to the aquarium. And since Easton loves fishies, we happily agreed! I'm pretty sure that was also the day he learned how to say fish!

We think once the weather cools down we definitely want to get a season pass to the zoo and aquarium. Its so close and Easton is really in a phase where he absolutely LOVES animals! And we have friends who have passes so it can always be a fun play date idea :)

The week my sister came...

My sister was here visiting the last week in July from Michigan. It was really fun to get to spend the week together and see her since we probably won't get to again for a while. Jameson also wasn't going to be home  from San Antonio til the middle of the week and we wanted to try and keep my pregnancy a secret til we could tell all of my family together. Funny story about that too, which I'll get to later. 

So the first thing we did was go to the splash pad at Rio Vista Park on Tuesday. My cousin who lives in Mesa also came down for lunch that day and went to the splash pad with us. Its nice having her a little closer now since they use to live in Tucson and she has a daughter about Easton's age.

Wednesday we went to Wet N Wild, which would have been more fun if Easton could go down the slides (which now he does so this kinda makes me laugh). Most of the day was spent with me riding some slides with Savannah (the little girl who I was watching) and my mom holding Easton while he freaks out because I left him. Eventually Savannah got comfortable enough that my mom started taking her down the slides while I stayed with Easton. Silly boy is so picky about who he goes to when we're not at home. No pictures that day...

On Thursday we went to the Museum of Natural History in Mesa and met up with my cousin afterwards for dinner at her house. The museum was not what we expected... we heard they had this really cool kid area that was hands on, which ended up being closed the day we went. So that didn't leave much for Easton to do, but he still found some areas interesting like the dinosaurs.

Easton rode this dinosaur version of a rocking horse... I think its kind of freaky looking, what do you think?

 And dinner was amazing! My cousin made some really awesome fixings for burritos that were pretty close copy-cats to a burrito you can get at Chipolte. Yum! I'm gonna have to track down her recipe for the meat and sauce.

Then on Friday we drove up to Sedona to try and escape the heat so I could take some family pictures for my sister and her family. The drive was kinda brutal and we ended up having to meet up with my parents so Jameson could switch cars and I could have more space to not feel so crammed and nauseous. After pictures and lunch everybody decided they wanted to go on a hike before heading back to town. I figured I could handle it since the hike was just a mile, but when we got there the clouds went away and the sun was brutal. We told everyone we were going to wait in the car until they were finished. Here's the funny part... My brother told me to suck it up and quit complaining, since after all, my sister was the pregnant one and she was gonna go on the hike. Oh little did he know, I was actually pregnant too, and in the sicky phase which my sister has already surpassed. I would have told him right then, but I decided not to say anything so we could tell the family all together (almost the whole family went to Sedona, minus my brothers wife which is why I decided to wait).

Anyway, here is my sister and her cute little family (girl number 3 due in November)

 And me, finally happy to have my hubby home! 

When we got back to the house that night everyone was finally all together. We were watching the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics and were finally able to tell everyone the good news. My sister was surprised I was able to keep it a secret all week, as was I, so I felt pretty accomplished that I did. 

Then Saturday it was my sisters birthday and we all went out to dinner as a family at Ah-So's Sushi and Steak. It was nice to get out (kid free) and spend time with just the adults. This place, if you have never been, has the best steak in the world! And I'm not a sushi fan, but others have said that their sushi is pretty good too. That ended the week on a high note and after that we said our goodbyes.

New pregnancy.. New adventures!

I wanted to write this blog post a few weeks ago, but never got around to it... and a few weeks ago it would have gone much different. I would have started by saying how this pregnancy I have been feeling quite ok in the sickness department and how I only feel nausea at night. How it came on a lot sooner than last time, but I was happy to be skipping the throwing up part. How I've already been gaining weight because I've been pretty much been able to eat whatever I wanted.. Well that's what it would have said...

Now its all about whether or not I'm going to keep my food down and how I have to imagine what that food would taste like coming back up and whether or not I should eat it in case it does decide to make its way back up (gross I know, but true). Now its all about keeping up with an almost two year old who has all the energy in the world, while I find myself with none. It's about dragging my energy-less body up the stairs to put him down for a nap and already worrying about making that climb up the stairs when my belly is ginormous. It's all about whether or not I should use his nap time to take my own nap (which usually happens), even though I have a heaping load of editing I need to get done. So the consensus... second pregnancy is much harder so far than the first. I can't even imagine getting up and going to work every morning like I did last time I was 10 weeks along. How did I manage that?

Now with all that said, I also can't help but think about all the great things that are about to happen for our little family. All I have to do is look at that silly little giggly boy and know that all of this sickness will be worth it (I'm going to have to remember this a lot over the next 8 months). And already I love how sweet it is that Easton is totally obsessed with babies and loves kissing and pointing to my belly and saying "Baby!" How excited I am to know if I get to pull out all of Easton's little baby clothes or go shopping for cute little girl things. I'm just happy. I wasn't sure about this whole adventure in the first place (and still sometimes aren't when I'm leaning over the toilet), but we felt like the time was right and are anxious to see what's in store.
